Movie Buzz

Saw “Birdman” and thought “Meh” well done and filmed but not the movie that would keep my interest if watching at night.

On the other hand, I found “Kingsman” fantastic. A Bond movie, with all the toppings, explosions, gadgets, comedy, and enough (discrete) sex to spice it up. Love the head exploding scene to the tune of Pomp and Circumstance.

Next one on the list: The second marygold hotel.

Great Movies

Watched “The Birdman” and was underwhelmed by it. I thought it was so so.

On the other hand, watched Kingsman and had an outrageously good time. A rare action comedy romp. Hilarious!

Discovery channel in oysters

Yesterday we had oysters for dinner (Naked Cowboy if you must know) To my surprise, two of the oysters had a small abalone (delicious BTW) attached to them. To my even greater surprise, two of the oysters had these little crabs inside them. Had never happened before.

The White Tower

I finally decided to update and re-release my novella “The White Tower” where I revisit the medical genre. This is a much lighter piece than “Snow” It takes place during a year at a teaching hospital in anywhere USA. Instead of focusing on the interns and residents that pass through the hospital, it looks at those who stay, at the permanent staff. I think it is funny.

Inherent Vice

For reasons best left unmentioned, the missus and I went to see this movie yesterday. Not a good idea.

As we were leaving the theater I tell my wife “I have no idea what this movie is about.” and she replies “Yes!” with a fist pump. Of course that was because she also hadn’t a clue.

From a shallow male point of view (what can I say, mea culpa) the only redeeming feature is a cool nude scene by Katherine Waterson, but apart from that, this movie was a pain to sit through. It does have a few comic lines but it would screen much better if the viewer is as stoned as the actors.

Santa Fe, vol 2, Ohkay Owingeh

Now that vol 1 is out of the way, I am starting to rewrite volume 2. Most of the action now will directly involve the different Pueblo nations, specially the Tewa at Ohkay Owingeh (San Juan)

Should be ready in a week or two, I think.
